Modern Gods

by kirky @ 2008-06-27 - 12:01:05

As a child I was fascinated by the old religions. Not just the ancient Greek one, but any that had a pantheon of Gods rather than just the one.
Recently I started to wonder about the deification of more modern heroes.
Who would they be?

Elvis Presley; God of Music.
Marilyn Monroe; Goddess of Desire.
Muhammad Ali; God of Battle. (Ironically.)
Evel Kinievel; God of Daring.

Hmmn, all Americans. How about…

Albert Einstein; God of Thought.
Mahatma Gandhi; God of Equality.
Charlie Chaplin; God of Comedy.

Who else?

You're very sweet, but it has to be someone who is World famous!

Not famous enough.
It has to be someone who is well known all around the world.
Voicing Darth Maul in the recent Star Wars films isn't enough.
Also, he reminds me of a young John Rhys-Davies.

I do like him, but a short series on BBC2 does not make him world famous.
Would you honestly say he's more famous a hunk than George Clooney?
(Who I would also say is not famous enough for Godhood.)
Also you spelled his name wrong.
:)

I freely admit that spelling is not my strong point, however I can say it :P
And yes, much more attractive than George. (Tho George is nice)

His youtube thing made him desirable enough for the BBC to snap him up sharpish, so ner!
Wiki him (as you can spell him)!

Obscure... but in.

Richard Dawkins - God of Atheists =)
Nelson Mandela - God of Smiling
Fidel Castro - God of Political Survival

... I sense this isn't where you wanted to go with this.

but we definitely should have

Micahel Palin - Lesser Deity of Travel

I couldn't include Mandela and Ghandi.
Too many political suvivilists.
Michael Palin; God of travel or possibly Alan Whicker?
Richard Dawkins however... Despite me never having heard of him before... Hilarious!
Should probably be Darwin though.
